Property of a Hilton Head Island, SC Estate Description: Branko Bahunek (Croatian, 1935-2005), A ChildÕs Dream, Oil on Canvas, 1984, signed and dated '84 verso, depicting a child asleep with circus characters and a dog below. Frame size: 19 1/2 in. x 17 in. Together with Brewster Gallery Certificate of Authenticity and Receipt. Illustrated in 'Prof. Dr. Vinko Zlamalik, Bahunek, New York: Brewster Editions, 1984', Image #59. Provenance: purchased at Brewster Gallery, New York, NY, 3/10/90, for $3500. Born 1935 in Zagreb, Croatia, Branko Bahunkek was the second of five children of Antun Bahunek, a noted painter. He studied at the Arts and Crafts school in his native town. Under Professor Sebalj's mentorship, he commenced to find a particular manner of expression and to grow into a marked painter. He exhibited in 53 one-man shows and participated in about 370 group shows, almost all over the world, and won many recognitions and prizes in the country and abroad.
