Dennis Creffield, British 1931–2018 - Portrait of Dorothy Mead, 1973; oil on canvas, signed, titled and dated on the reverse 'Dennis Creffield Dorothy Mead 73', 76.2 x 63.5 cm (ARR) Provenance: with James Hyman, London; private collection, purchased from the above in 2017 Note: this is a portrait of the artist's friend, Dorothy Mead, painted just before her death in 1974. She was another important member of the Borough Group collective alongside Creffield, based in the Borough area of South London. This group included Lilian Holt and Miles Peter Richmond and they were hugely inspired in their practice by their teacher David Bomberg.
