Porter WOODRUFF (Etats-Unis 1989 - 1959) Bouquet of tulips and flowers Oil on strong cardboard 52 x 50 cm Signed abs. right Woodruff Porter Woodruff was an American artist, both painter and fashion illustrator, who exhibited at the Salons de l'Amérique in 1934. He notably designed covers for House & Garden, but remains particularly famous for his Art Deco fashion covers for Vogue. Porter Woodruff's link with Tunisia, and more particularly with the town of Hammamet, is explained by his friendship and relationship with Georges Sébastian, who built a luxuriantly decorated Art Deco estate in the local style called Dar Sebastian, where many celebrities have stayed.
