Lot description
Signed and dated: "Ferd. Richardt 1865" lower right. A view of Niagara Falls as seen from the ferry to Canada. This monumental work having 15 figures and a dog on the rocks below the falls. The figures are dwarfed by their natural surroundings. Having a period giltwood and gesso frame, H 45", W 70.5". Provenance: Collection of a prominent, Grosse Pointe Park, MI collector of American art. Christie's New York, 5-24-2007, lot #61. Exhibited: Copenhagen, Denmark, Charlottenborg, 1865, no. 127.
