Lot description
Carlo Francesco Nuvolone (Milan 1609-Milan 1662) Assumption of the Virgin with cherubs oil on canvas 98x74 cm - with frame 108x84 cm From the sky illuminated by a yellow light the figure of the Madonna emerges with great force, richly dressed in a blue and white robe, seated on a throne of clouds, surrounded by cherubs. The soft but decisive brushstrokes, combined with chromatic shades that outline the figures, bring the canvas closer to the best painter's production of Carlo Francesco Nuvolone, a great interpreter of the Milanese baroque.
