Lot description

Sky Jones (B. 1947) American, Abstract Acrylic Painting. Size: 20 5/8 x 29 x 5 in. Sky Jones is a painter from the American West, born October 3, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utaha s Michael Whipple. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1971 with a bachelor degree in art. In 1984, he cahnged his name to Sky Jones. Note: He has taken a vow of poverty that he has honored since the birth of his first creation. One story depicts Jones bringing in $2.5M in a benefit auction for the Salvation Army and turning the check immediately over to the Salvation Army Captain in charge; only to be found later that evening in the Salvation Army food line. He has been hounded by the IRS for "their share" and he's always ignored them. Because of some of his "antics", (as some call them), the controversy that surrounds Jones is almost as bizarre as that of Van Gogh who didn't sell one piece of his art until after his death. In 2003 he began signing his art as "Siren Bliss". As Is: Damage visible in one corner (image 17) #5820
