Ludwig Meixner (German, 1828-1885) oil on canvas nocturnal landscape, depicting a village with the spire of a church silhouetted in moonlight and reflected in a body of water below. Housed in the original giltwood frame with carved acanthus and cartouche moldings, with an outer ribbon molding and dark stained wood surround. Signed "Ludwig Meixner" en verso with possible title, "Munchen" (Munich). Sight - 14"H x 11"W. Frame - 25 1/2" H x 22 1/2"W (overall).
