Colonel Francis Robertson Oil on canvas h. 30 w. 25 in. No apparent signature, in an antique gilt carved frame with plaque bearing artist's name and with later pencil inscription on back of frame overall: 36-1/2 x 32-1/2 in. (frame) A typewritten memo on stretcher reads: "COLONEL FRANCIS ROBERTSON, of the East India Company's Service; first under Clive and later under Warren Hastings, to whom he left a sum of money to pay for his trial."
