JOSEPH LE GULUCHE (France, 1849 - 1915). "Diana". In bluing bronze. Signed on the base. It presents some faults. Size: 99 x 42 x 36 cm. In this representation of Diana, Joseph Le Guluche sits the goddess of the hunt on the back of the phoenix, in allusion to the romance of the goddess with the shepherd Endimion. Le Guluche began his career working in terracotta for the Mauger and Alphonse Hanne factories in northern France. The success of his pieces eventually led him to switch much of his production to bronze. Immersed in the phenomenon of edition sculpture at the end of the 19th century, his pieces became very popular with tourists and the bourgeoisie, and dealt with local subjects, mainly fishermen and villagers, although he also produced pieces with oriental themes. Most of his works are in the hands of private collectors, but many of them can be seen in the Louis Senlecq Museum in L'Isle-Adam, France.
