Philip Jean (British, 1755-1802) A portrait miniature of a young gentleman, wearing a blue striped coat, white stock and tied cravat, his hair powdered. Watercolour on ivory, gold frame, the reverse glazed to reveal a seed pearl monogram, 'HAS', over a blue glass ground, within a surround of blond and brown plaited hair. Oval, 60mm ( 2 3/8in) high
