The moon is said to have been one of the original creator Ancestors of Kununjku clan lands. He was Bininj (human being) just like Aboriginal people today but became the moon and morning star (Gingin). He is of the sub-section Wamud. The moon determines the timing of ceremonies, when they start and finish and on a practical level the waxing of the moon brings fish to the creeks and her light helps people to see and catch them. In the daytime the sun is too bright unless at dawn or dusk." As stated on the Maningrida Arts & Culture certificate of authenticity © Mick Kubarrkku/Copyright Agency, 2023
