He was known for his abstract and expressionist style of painting. Rust was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1929. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin before immigrating to Australia in 1959. In Australia, Rust continued to develop his artistic career and became an influential figure in the Australian art scene. He held numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the country, showcasing his vibrant and energetic paintings.
