Georges Leroux signed "La Tragedie" Watercolor on Paper Painting Georges Leroux "La Tragedie" Watercolor on Paper Painting Art Deco Art Nouveau circa 1925 French painter and illustrator well known and respected. He was the winner of the Prix de Rome in painting in 1906. In 1924, he became a member of the jury of the Society of French Artists . He was named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1926. He was elected a member of the Institut de France on November 26 , 1932( chair IV ) 8 , 9 . He replaces Jean-Pierre Laurens (1875-1932). In 1934, he was commissioned to represent the Academy of Fine Arts in Canada for the fourth centenary of the discovery of Canada by Jacques Cartier. Before returning to France, he made a short stay in New York. His works are held in many public and private collections.
