Lot description
This lovely floral allegory engraving was done by Franz Floris. Their initials were stamped in the engraving (FF). Franz Floris was born in Antwerp in 1516 and dies in 1570. While we're not sure of the exact publication date of the engraving, it's clear the original illustration would have been done in the 1500s. There has been a similar example on the market but included nomenclature for Visscher and attributed the engraving to Collaert, but this engraving only features the FF signature (reference: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/145444350_a-collaert-1560-after-floris-1516-flora-1599-copper-engraving).
