ISAAK MAJOR (Frankfurt a.M., c. 1576–c. 1645 Vienna) 1630/36) Rocky landscape with Saint Jerome and the lion. 1622. after ROELANDT SAVERY. Engraving on laid paper. 52.7 x 69.4 cm. Nagler 1; Hollstein 7 I (of II, before Wagner's address). - A fine, even and clear impression. Trimmed to the subject and mounted on old backing sheet. The horizontal central fold somewhat creased, some closed tears. Some stains and abrasions, light traces of wear. Overall still in good condition. In der unteren linken Ecke gestochen signiert: Roelant Savery pinxit Isaac Major sculpsit Vienne Austr.1622. 52,7 x 69,4 cm. Nagler 1; Hollstein 7 I (von II, vor Wagners Adresse). - Schöner, gleichmässiger und klar zeichnender Druck. Bis zur Darstellung beschnitten und ganzflächig auf Unterlagenbogen alt aufgezogen. Die horizontale Mittelfalte etwas knittrig, einzelne geschlossene Einrisse. Wenige Fleckchen und Bereibungen, leichte Gebrauchsspuren. Insgesamt noch in guter Erhaltung.
