Alfred Fowler Patten (British, 1826-died after 1888) 'Alone at the ferry' signed and dated 'A.F.Patten.1880' (lower right); signed, titled and inscribed with artist's address (on artist's label attached to the stretcher), further inscribed 'The Ferry man's young, - and the/sun going down.' (on artist's label attached to the stretcher) oil on canvas 71.5 x 56cm (28 1/8 x 22 1/16in).
