Lot description
(Vienna 1933–1997) “Latte liquidée”, 1962, signed Leherb, oil on canvas, 65 x 52 cm, small hole to the left, framed Full-page colour illustration: Leherb. Le Monde d’un Surréaliste, Verlag Arcade, 1973, p. 135 Provenance: Collection Georg Prachner, Vienna Private Collection, Vienna I see this great artist with his enormous capacity for experience, his almost childlike, naïve impudence of contempt for society and speculation, perishing, ...while “surreally” a piece of the black anarchist flag flutters from his European-tailored costume. Which, moreover, Leherb should fiercely deny, because for him, – and since I know his work, for me too – the colour of potential destruction (and what else is valid?) is his magnificently pure, shimmering blue.
