Samuel Hieronymus Grimm, Swiss 1733-1794 Ruins of Verdley Castle, Sussex; pen and black ink, and grey wash on paper, signed 'S. H. Grimm fecit' (lower edge), 11.4x 16 cm, (unframed). Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: This sketch was used as the basis for the engraving of 'Inside of Verdley Castle, Sussex', which was published in Francis Grose's 'Antiquities of England and Wales', 1786.
