Portrait of Mrs. Philpot, three-quarter length, oil on canvas, unsigned, artist and subject names on back, circa 1875. She is depicted in a blue lace edge bonnet with matching blue high-waisted dress, crimson shawl, with gold brooch, rope necklace and wedding ring, holding a letter in her left hand, gold eyeglasses in her right hand, seated next to a draped window with a summer landscape outside, unframed, 41 1/2" x 30 1/2". Cleaned, relined and retouched.
