1932 MADEIRA. FUNCHAL. Acçoes Ordinarias de 9$000 Reis. B/S Cat. 620B. brown, red seal. #22500. No 1993. Folds. Vignette of a funicular train. The only railway company we have ever seen on one of the Portuguese islands, in this case Madeira. British style certificate, but with text entirely in Portuguese. This was a single-track cogwheel railway that connected Pombal, in Funchal, to Terreiro da Luta, in Monte, for a length of 3911m. The line opened partially in 1893, but was not completed until 1912. It stopped its activities in 1943. Only this one piece is known to us.
