WILLIAM GERSHOM COLLINGWOOD (British, 1854-1932) After Sunset on a Wintry Day, Great How Crags, Coniston, 1913 watercolour signed and dated lower right: W G Collingwood / 1913 35.5 x 25.5cm (56 x 44.5cm framed) PROVENANCE: Sotheby's, London Private Collection, Canberra, acquired from the above 1970s OTHER NOTES: Collingwood was an English author, landscape artist, antiquary and professor of Fine Arts at University College, Reading. He exhibited his work from 1880-1891, including six exhibitions at the Royal Academy, London. He was also the biographer of John Ruskin.
