LANFANG MEI (CHINESE, 1894-1961) PAINTING OF GUANYIN , DATED 1947 一九四七年 傳梅蘭芳畫 觀音大士圖 紙本設色 立軸 delicately painted with Avalokiteshvara standing on a lotus base issuing scrolling foliage above a pile of clouds, wearing loose white robes which drape down undulatingly, featuring a turquoise, red, and blue lappet and swinging beads before her lower legs, her demure face with down casting eyes and serene expression, the hair minutely detailed topped with a Buddha underneath white headscarf, inscribed in Chinese to the right margin with 'Offered by Mister Yue Sheng, summer in the year of Ding Hai, painted with reverence at the A Lan Na Studio by Mei Lanfang', stamped (87cm x 39.5cm) Qty: (1) Provenance: Private European collection
