Lot description
The canvases by Pietro Navarra, an artist who is still too little known and of whom we have little information, are of a quality that is immediately evident to the eye of the viewer. It is worth noting the dew that drips from the leaves of the cauliflower lying on the bottom, or the very bright rendering of the bunches of grapes or even the fur of the rabbit on the left. The colour is brilliant, textured, animated by a skilful play of chiaroscuro contrasts; the painter was the only Franz Werner von Tamm’s pupils mentioned in the sources.
