France, end of the 19th century. Bronze, brown patina. Signed and dated. 'MARIUS MONTAGNE 1867'. Figure: h. 45 cm. On a high, two-columned marble base with bronze cuffs and bronze paw feet: h. 109 cm. - French sculptor. Pupil of François Rude in Paris, debuted at the Salon in 1850, was a regular exhibitor until 1875 and won several awards.
