Carol Griggs is a self-taught Cherokee painter living in southern Oregon and is known for her paintings of horses and Native American women, primarily done in watercolor. This print depicts a Native American woman wrapped in a large blanket or coat with a section of blue silk cloth on one arm. The figure is shown with feathers and beads decorating her hair and a beaded necklace. The blanket is made out of buffalo hide with a section of fur along the top and a contrasting bolt of light blue silk cloth on one arm and flowing down. The piece is signed in the bottom right hand corner in the printing, reading "Carol Griggs Blue Silk". The piece shows wonderful impressionistic style with great contrasting colors. The art is set into a custom frame with a metallic finish and a white border around the print. The piece shows good condition overall. The frame measures 35 1/2" wide by 33 3/4" tall, with the print measuring 23 3/4" wide by 22" tall. The signature is printed.
