Without ever becoming frivolous, Veranneman's furniture design is characterized by a simple but sound construction, paired with a monumental feel that is achieved through the use of high gloss lacquer in primary colors. The end result is never bulky nor heavy thanks to some subtle graphic details such as in this case the sloping drawers that purvey an elegant rhythm and radically break with the traditional horizontality of this kind of furniture. Of this chest of drawers, only two are known. The other one belongs to the collection of the Design Museum in Ghent.
