Adirondack Valley Vista at Sunset with figures, including the artist drawing a portrait in a Native cave upper left, soldier with woman and dog on trail lower center; oil on canvas laid to cradled hardboard, signed lower right, 30" x 48". Good condition, cleaned with minor retouching. Alexander Francois Loemans was born in the Netherlands and obtained his artistic training in France. He eventually emigrated from Europe to North America and moved between America and Canada. He painted idyllic and romantic landscapes in Minnesota, New York, Manitoba, and Ontario.
