The Property of a Connoisseur, London JOHN LAPORTE (BRITISH 1761–1839) Sunday Church Bodycolour 17 x 23.5cm (7 x 9in) Laporte was a pupil of John Melchior Barralet. He became drawing master at Addiscombe College, Military Academy in Surrey. He taught Dr Munro, and the influence of Paul Sandby can be detected in his work. He exhibited at both the Royal Institution and the Royal Academy.
