18th century oil on canvas three-quarter length portrait of a gentleman seated at his desk, in the style of George Knapton (British, 1698-1778), sitter is dressed in a powdered full-bottom wig, a linen cravat tied around his neck, and a three piece suit with tightly spaced covered buttons, including a collarless coat with boot cuffs extending to his elbows, a long waistcoat, and breeches all of one cloth, having no visible signature, 49.5"h x 39.5"w, overall size with frame 58.5"h x 49.5"w x 2.25"d.
