Lot description

American. Photograph mounted on Aluminum. Titled: "CD" Cuba 2009. # 2 / 50. O: 24 x 30 in. The original photograph mounted on aluminum, which gives the effect that the print alone is floating when hung on the wall. 100% acid-free adhesive is used to permanently mount the print on the aluminum. A UV inhibitor is applied to the photograph. This process protects the image from sunlight and seals the surface so that it can be cleaned with a non-abrasive cloth when necessary. Mario Duse- I seek out images that evoke places that Ive seen and dream about. Ancient buildings, gnarled trees, waving grasses by the sea, places left unchanged for centuries. For the most part free of human presence, the better to let the beholder make the image his own. I see myself as an interpreter of far off places with a spiritual message to be shared by all. Born a photographers son, I have been immersed in the process of looking at the world through a lens for my entire life. I prefer to use 6 x 6 medium format camera along with 120 film because it allows for a sharper, more color saturated image. I shoot in natural light only, at various times of the day and from different angles, a process akin to meditation. My photographs are printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper; mounted and matted to museum standards using only the finest acid free materials. In addition to his studio location, Marios photographs can be found throughout the year at a variety of juried art exhibitions in San Francisco.
