(1897 - 1948) Personal physician to Himmler and Hess, auxiliary physician to Hitler at the Berghof, and president of the German Red Cross. Conducted bone and muscle experiments on prisoners at Ravensbruck. Convicted of crimes against humanity and executed. T.L.S. on his personal medical letterhead, 1p. 4to., Hohenlychen, "Weinachten" ["Christmas"], 1937, to Ilse Prohl, wife of Deputy Fuhrer Rudolf Hess. Gebhardt extends his best wishes to the Hess family on behalf of himself and the staff of Hohenlychen Sanatorium, the SS hospital headed by Gebhardt. He goes on to express his gratitude for Rudolf Hess's support of the programs at Hohenlychen, and extends Christmas greetings. Gebhardt signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows mailing folds with a small split thereto at the top edge and file holes at the left edge, else very good.
