Alexander Leggett (Scottish, 1828 - 1884), "The Carriers Cart", 1879, oil on canvas, depicts elderly woman and small child examining the wares of traveling butcher who holds a game bird, an axe, nearly empty birdcage and dead rabbit are cornerstones of foreground, mountainous background, signed "A. Leggett" LR, additionally signed, titled and dated verso on stretcher, wear consistent with age and use including toning, wear to edges and scattered abrasions, not examined out of frame, ss: 16 1/2" h. x 20 1/2" w., in molded frame, probably original, with remnants of paper label verso, with wear.
