JOSEPH MOZIER (NY/VT/ITALY, 1812-1870) White Marble Bust Portrait of an Adolescent Girl, signed verso, marked Florence and dated 1846. Roughly 15 1/2" x 12" x 7". Small abrasion on hair. Mozier was a very successful merchant in NYC, left in 1845 (aged 33) to study in Italy, so this is evidence that he was quite accomplished just a year later! He died suddenly after escorting some of his work to display in the US.
