KARL GEBHARDT (1897 - 1948) Personal physician to Himmler and Hess, auxilliary physician to Hitler at the Berghof, and president of the German Red Cross. Conducted bone and muscle experiments on prisoners at Ravensbruck. Convicted of crimes against humanity and executed. T.L.S. on his personal medical letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Hohenlychen, Feb. 8, 1938, most likely to ILSE HESS (1900-1995), wife of Rudolf Hess. Gebhardt dispenses some medical advice regarding some discomfort in her feet. He also offers to visit her soon for a more detailed examination. He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, a paper clip mark at top left and file holes to the left margin, else very good.
