Andre Henri Dargelas (French, 1828 - 1906), "Joys of Childhood", oil on panel, depicts a little boy playing cowboy on a stone bench, his toy horse by his side, signed LR, in ornate molded and gilded frame with label "Henri Dergelas/ Joys of Childhood/ Purchased by the Atheneum/ 1897", museum label verso, major damage and loss to frame, panel not examined out of frame, panel size: 8" x 7", frame size: 17 1/2" x 16" w. [Provenance: deaccessioned from the Wadsworth Atheneum, sold to benefit acquisition funds.]
