Lot description
Hans Christoph Drexel (German, 1886-1979) Group of 20 Portraits, each portrait is a pastel and charcoal drawing on paper, each has been laminated with plastic. Each measures approximately: 19" x 12", 48 x 30 cm (sheet). Note: In the 1920's the artist Christof Drexel went into the streets of Berlin to lure people into what he called "picture games". 'Man and Mask" was a consistent theme.  This set of 20 original portrait cards were created after 1945 as psychological prompts for use in experimental group therapy workshops. These vibrant portrayals, ranging from the surreal to realistic, were used to stimulate inter-personal exchanges between participants.
