Giovanni Domenico Cerrini (Perugia 1609 - 1681 Rome / Roma), attributed to / attribuito Amnon and Tamar / Amnone e Tamar, oil on canvas, 111 x 165 cm, framed, (Wo) Amnon, one of David's sons, had fallen in love with his half-sister Tamar. In order to be able to approach the girl, he pretended to be ill and asked his father to send Tamar to look after him. When they were alone, he raped her and chased her out of the house. Tamar's brother Abshalom, however, took revenge on behalf of his sister and ordered Amnon to be killed at a banquet. There exist two further autograph versions of the present composition - one at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Tours and another in the collection at the Palazzo Corsini in Florence (comp. F. F. Mancini, Il Cavalier Perugino tra classicismo a barocco, Palazzo Baldeschi al Corso, Perugia, 2005-06, Milan 2005, No. 23, repr. p. 262.) Tamar fu chiesto da suo fratellastro, che fingeva di essere ammalato, di curarlo. Però la violentava. Absalome, il fratello di Tamar, vendicava la sorella uccidendo Amnone durante un convito. Si conoscono tre dipinti del Cerrini che raffigurano con poche varianti l'episodio biblico di Tamara e Amnone, una versione è conservata al Musée des Beaux-Arts di Tours un'altra si trovava nel Palazzo Corsini a Firenze.
