Value of old plates

Old plate value depends on maker, pattern, age, decoration, set completeness, condition, rarity, and whether buyers want display plates or usable dinnerware.

Quick value checklist

  • Photograph front, back, maker marks, pattern, rim, foot, chips, cracks, crazing, and size.
  • Separate cabinet plates, dinner plates, serving platters, export plates, commemorative plates, and replacement pieces.
  • Count matching pieces and serving pieces when plates belong to a service.

Key value drivers

Old plates can be modest replacement pieces or stronger cabinet/display objects. Maker, hand painting, pattern, set context, condition, and demand determine the difference.

How these auction records were verified

These sales are market context, not an object estimate.

Each row retains its exact source URL, lot identity, retrieval time, access result, and immutable record hash. Live source access was blocked; the exact record matched Appraisily's immutable pipeline provenance. Inspect the public comparable provenance record.

Condition and authenticity cautions

Auction records do not prove your old plates value. Repairs, restoration, chips, cracks, crazing, fake marks, missing parts, replaced pieces, and incomplete sets can materially change value.

Photo checklist

  • Full object or set, front, back, base, maker marks, model or pattern number, measurements, and scale reference.
  • Close-ups of chips, cracks, crazing, repairs, restoration, boxes, certificates, labels, receipts, and provenance notes.
