Friz Freleng (born Isadore Freleng, 1905–1995) was an American animator, cartoonist, film director, producer, and composer whose career defined much of the golden age of American animation. Active from the late 1920s onward, he became one of the principal directors at Warner Bros. Cartoons, where he helmed hundreds of animated shorts in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series between the 1930s and early 1960s. Over his career he directed more than 300 cartoons and played a central role in shaping iconic characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, and Speedy Gonzales.
