Rowland Frederick Hilder OBE (1905–1993) was a British landscape painter and book illustrator celebrated for his evocative watercolour depictions of the English countryside in winter. Born in Great Neck, New York, to English parents, he moved to England as a child and went on to study at Goldsmiths' College, London. Hilder became closely associated with the tradition of English landscape watercolour painting and earned wide recognition for scenes of snow-covered fields, frozen rivers, and rural architecture under pale winter skies. He was affiliated with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his contributions to art.
