Lucien Hector Jonas (1880–1947) was a French painter, lithographer, illustrator, and draftsperson born in Anzin, near Valenciennes, and active in Paris. He trained under the academic painters Joseph Fortuné Séraphin Layraud in Valenciennes and Léon Bonnat in Paris, placing his foundation within the French academic tradition of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Jonas worked across history painting and genre scenes, and his practice extended to lithography and book illustration. His work was included in the painting event at the 1932 Summer Olympics art competition in Los Angeles. Jonas died in Paris on September 20, 1947. He is documented in the Getty Union List of Artist Names, the RKD Netherlands Institute for Art History, VIAF, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
