About Ansel Adams

Ansel Easton Adams (1902–1984) was an American landscape photographer and environmentalist whose black-and-white images of the American West — particularly Yosemite Valley, the Sierra Nevada, and U.S. national parks — became defining icons of twentieth-century photography. Born in San Francisco, Adams trained as a concert pianist before committing to photography full-time around 1930, opening his own studio in San Francisco.
