Theodor van Thulden (1606–1669) was a Flemish painter, draughtsman, and engraver active in the Southern Netherlands during the 17th century. Born in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Duchy of Brabant and baptized there on August 9, 1606, he trained and established his career in Antwerp, a leading center of Baroque artistic production. His 1635 marriage to Maria van Balen—daughter of painter Hendrick van Balen I and godchild of Peter Paul Rubens—placed him firmly within the network of Antwerp's most prominent artistic families. Van Thulden is best known for altarpieces, mythological scenes, allegorical compositions, and portraits. He also produced a substantial body of prints and drawings, sometimes marked with the monogram TVT. Over the course of his career he worked in Antwerp, Paris, and his native 's-Hertogenbosch, where he was buried on July 12, 1669.
